TAOS SHORTZ FILM FESTIVAL

The inception for the Taos Shortz Film Fest came after attending the Sedona Film Fest this past January....There were so many intriguing and creative shorts there, that we decided Taos is a prime place for indie filmmakers to be highlighted....Taos is no stranger to film fests. We hosted the Taos Talking Pictures Film Fest for 9 years, and then the Taos Picture Show after that. The Taos Mountain Film Fest is in its 6th year...But never a Fest dedicated to industrious indie filmmmakers. In some ways, short films are more of a challenge to produce! How can you get your message across in 30 minutes or less? And with our fast paced society, who wants to be committed to sitting through a 2+ hour feature? (not to knock the really GREAT feature films out there) So...long story SHORT, the Taos Shortz Film Fest was created.....It is a grassroots effort that will have lasting impact in Taos.

We are many years into working for various fests, and work as independent contractors for the local 480 film union in New Mexico. We are dedicated to bringing top quality short films into the public arena and getting indie filmmakers a venue where their work will be seen and appreciated.

The Taos Shortz Film Fest will be held on November 17th in Taos. Categories include documentary, fiction, animation and cell phone shorts (called Cell.Us.Shorts)
